I Am Healthy Again!

I am so grateful to be healthy again! About a month ago, I started feeling a little run down and soon after got sick. I was running a low grade fever and felt tired with a cough. The cough kept getting worse over the next few days and so I figured I had bronchitis. So being the aspiring doctor that I am, I started a dose of Augmentin which is an antibiotic that I had sitting in the medicine cabinet. After 5 days of fever and pills, I decided something was wrong and went to urgent care. They diagosed me as having strep throat and gave me a prescription of Amoxycilan. They said the Augmentin wouldn’t help with strep. That day I had sort of an attack where I got really dizzy and felt some intense tightness in my chest which lasted for 20 minutes. I could barely talk during that time and soon headed off to the ER. They couldn’t find anything wrong with me and said it may have been the cold and flu medication I was taking. They also said the Augmentin would have worked fine for strep and didn’t know why urgent care put me on a different antibiotic. So I went home.

A week later I was still running a fever and felt miserable. It had been 2 weeks now with a fever and it went up to 101.7 now. So back to the ER I went. They found that my strep was gone and couldn’t find anything else wrong. So they said to go see an Infectious Disease doctor in a week if I didn’t feel better. So week 3 came around and I started to feel better. On the 21st day my fever broke in the morning. It came back that night, but the next day it was gone completely. And the day after that I went to a fair for a few hours and survived. I am still a little tired from my inactivity. I mean I’ve been laying in bed and on the coach sleeping and watching TV for 3 weeks. But I am picking up strength everyday.

What did I have? Maybe a bad case of strep and the flu? Not really sure. But in any case, I am so grateful that I am well. And I realized that I had been taking my health for granted, once again. The spiritual seminar I had taken had weakened me a little. Plus being in close contact with 650 people for a week, I must have picked up some bugs.

Now the simple act of going outside is a joyous occasion. Being hungry again is awesome! And I lost 10 lbs of mostly fat which was nice. I can kiss my wife again, woohoo! Life is good, and I love my life! Today I will finish building the greenhouse frame in the backyard. And I might jump on my motorcycle and practice for next months competition.

The Law of Clearance

An excerpt from

You Can Have an Amazing Life in just 60 Days

Dear Friends,

Many of us walk around with baggage and burdens on our backs, dragging this huge burden on our shoulders because of things in the past that we have never gotten beyond or loved! I encourage you to do one thing. Make a list of every single thing in your life that you resent, or anything that you have never loved-anything that you think you made a mistake on! Whatever you think you could have done “better!” Everything that made you think, Oh, I hurt somebody! Whatever you think you have done, for which you cannot say Thank you, to yourself! Put them all on your list. And then go through those items, one by one, and ask yourself, How did it serve me? How did it serve others? Again and again! How did it serve me, ultimately? How did it serve others? Do not stop until you almost have a tear in your eye, for you will suddenly discover the benefits, and see the balance and the order and the gift that each of those actions and events were in your life.

I do not believe that there are any mistakes in life. I believe that everything is an experience in life and a lesson, which teaches us how to love ourselves and how to love others. Everything in your life and in mine is a gift, which teaches us how to love others and how to love ourselves! Look back in your life and clear out the illusions you have about yourself, or possibly about others! See how all of that served you and how it served others. Think! How did it serve me? How did it serve others? Until you feel your heart open in gratitude! Keep asking that over and over and over and over. Keep writing down how it served, until you see, Wow! I never thought of it that way! Every one of those things that you can clear and see as a service-every cleared event-adds fuel to your life rather than baggage and burden to your life. In other words, An attitude of gratitude determines our altitude in life!

If we go through life held down or held back by resentful or guilt-filled illusions, we make ourselves a victim, instead of seeing our victory. Go back and clear out the illusions of your past. Open yourself to the truth that no matter what you have done or not done, you have served.

Some people say, “Well, that is strange! How can you say all things are good, and serve?” I assure that if you keep at it, you will see its truth for yourself, and you will be amazed and free. I have been blessed, and I have been working with people for many, many years. I have seen people with just about every kind of trauma, almost everything that occurs in life. Every single one of them serves if you look deeply enough!

What most people do is to look superficially. I tell you to look beyond the surface. Look deeply again. Keep asking how every thing that happened in your life served you and how it served others. I assure you there is a blessing in each event you thought a curse. There is an opportunity in every challenge. Give yourself the gift of freedom. Go back in your life and say “How did it serve?” and love yourself.

Words of Power

  • All that is, is gift.
  • This, too, is a gift of love.
  • Thank you for everything that happens. All is blessing.
  • I look at both sides of every event until I see its blessing.
  • In every terrible, there is a terrific. In every terrific, a drawback. All is love.
  • Love is all there is. All else is illusion.
  • No matter what, we are worthy of love.

Love and gratitude,
Dr. John F. Demartini
