In the past I thought of karma as something similar to revenge. Those wrongdoers will get what they deserve. I still believe in karma, but maybe more in the sense of how we attract things. I attracted these so called wrongdoings, because I hadn't learned the lesson they had for me. These wrongdoings happen over and over until I learn their lesson. It seems in my life I've moved past forgiveness. I don't feel that I have been wronged by anybody anymore, past or present. All of my experiences were designed to get me where I am today. My most difficult challenges with others taught me the most and lifted me higher because I found the lesson in them. So I thank them for that. I do that because my main goal in life is to understand myself better. The more I know about me, the more I realize there is to know which excites me. And I know that the more I know about myself, the less suffering I will endure. And thank you for the great comments! Very interesting point. It seems in my life I’ve moved past forgiveness. It is of no worth to say one is forgiven, and yet expect that that person will "get what's coming to him". It's an easy thing for us to hide behind the traditional understanding of karma, and bask in the glow of "getting our revenge some day". This is reflected in the philosophy of "what goes around comes around". This may be true, but only where there is no forgiveness. As long as we think in these terms, we will never be living in the "now". We will remain prisoners, sitting in the dark, waiting for salvation. Thanks for the short discussion. Bye. We all have our own truths and they change throughout our lives. It is my belief that at birth we are perfect, then we stray from that as we are told how to be. Later in life enlightenment can be achieved not by learning, but by letting go of our past piece by piece and living in the now. I'm not a bible thumper, but here is an interesting quote from the bible. It is only that opportunities for true forgiveness are not as common as one might think. We are all trapped in a cycle of death. It is not a question of blaming others or playing the victim. It is a question of how the universe is structured, how it works. There are real laws acting here, and it's not enough just to get yourself into a "feel good" mindset. You will only remain stuck where you are, a child playing on the merry-go-round, having a good time, and not realizing that there's more to the world than the playground. Without forgiveness, we will never move forward in our life. I believe there are no victims in this world, except for those who are purely innocent (children). We create our own experience once we are older and blaming anything on anybody and playing the victim is only an excuse to not accept the consequences of our actions. Once you let go of being a victim, life changes and becomes much more magnificant, like when you were a child.
